Sundarapandian Movie Review and Rating

Prabhakaran, who has worked as an assistant director with Sasikumar has made a decent debut with his first directional venture 'Sundarapandian'. The film has Sasikumar and Lakshmi Menon in the lead roles, besides Vijay Sethupathi, Soori, Inigo Prabhakaran, Thennavan, Naren and others in supporting roles.

Story :

The film talks about the bonding of friendship and how a love disturbs it. Sasikumar, who is a good friend of Soori and Inigo Prabhakaran helps for Prabhakaran, who is in love with Archana (Lakshmi Menon). While trying to help him, Sasikumar comes to know that Archana is in love with him and not his friend Inigo. The twist in the tale begins from here where we get to watch a flashback in which Sasikumar, during his college proposing Archana and never gets a reply.

Meanwhile, Archana lands into trouble from getting married to Sasikumar since she gets engaged with Vijay Sethupathi, her relative. Vijay Sethupathi, who also happens to be a friend of Sasikumar doesn't discloses it to the latter. This creates confusion and when Vijay Sethupathi comes to know about the Sasikumar and Lakshmi Menon's love he plans to take revenge. The rest of story forms the climax with an unexpected twist.

Pluses :

The first half of the story featuring Sasikumar, Soori, Inigo Prabhakaran and Lakshmi Menon travels in brisk pace with the help of Soori's comedy and good screenplay.
We have seen Sasikumar in this type of roles in his previous films and hence we can blindly vote for Sasikumar's acting. Lakshmi Menon has also done her part well and deserves applause.
Though the second half becomes predictable, the director has given an unexpected twist in the climax which keeps the audience engaged.
