Review :

Aadhi and Ramadass are two con-men. They are set to steal Maragadha Naanayam, a precious emerald artefact. It is guarded by the ghost of its owner, a king. As per a book, Maragadha Naanayam has a curse that who ever possess it gets killed. To safeguard themselves from the king’s ghost Aadhi and Ramadass seek help of three ghosts.

How the duo get hold of Maragadha Naanayam? Can they bust the ghost? Will they  survive the curse? These questions and lot more is in offing from this horror-comedy.

Maragadha Naanayam paves its own path away from traditional horro-comedy genre. It’s a quirky tale told in a funny fashion. Screenplay is engrossing with surprising twists and turns. Comedy is evoked through characters without deviating from the plot. First half deals with introduction of roles, romance between lead pair and silly humour of friends. Gradually, pace picks up. story takes horror turn. Wacky scenes keeps it interesting.

Logics take back seats. Some portions of the film appears dragged and overdone.  Some dialogues essence is lost in dubbing. Lip-sync also Besides these glitches, the film’s flow and comic factor keeps it engaging. Director Saravanan is here to stay. His fresh handling of the trending genre of horror-comedy is the USP of Maragadha Naanayam.

Bunch of actors bombard screen scene after scene yet they have significant role and serve their purpose. Nikki Galrani fills the glamour and makes proceedings eye-candy. Her character has surprise to offer which we cannot reveal. Aadhi’s rugged appearance and chilled out performance is apt for his role. Technically the film is well made. Background score and cinematography compliments to the thriller feel in the movie.

Rating - 3.25/5
