Director Seenu Ramasamy, who was showered with accolades for his ‘Thenmerkku Paruvakkattru’ has opted for a fresh onscreen pairing of Vishnu Vishal and Sunaina. Others who play prominent roles are Nandita Das, Thambi Ramaiah, Samuthirakani and Poo fame Ram. Veteran writer Jayamohan has written the dialogues for the film.

Story :

The film starts off with the narration of an aged woman Esther (played by Nandita Das), who tells her love tale to her son.

Arulappasamy is a guy who roams the streets without any goal in mind and is a drunkard too. He often does petty cheating to get money for drinking. Esther (young age Esther played by Sunaina) is an orphan who lives with her aunt. She earns money by performing prayers for the villagers on behalf of the Church.

Once, Arul targets Esther for getting money to drink. After being cheated by him, Esther complains to Arulappasamy’s mom Mary (played by Saranya Ponvannan) about this issue. Worried with his careless attitude and addiction towards alcohol, Mary admits Arulappasmy in a hospital for rehabilitation.

Arul somehow manages to escape from the hospital and plans to humiliate Esther in a big way and succeeds in it. Once again Mary gets Arul into the hospital and this time he manages to get rid of the drinking habit. Arul plans to lead a proper life after that, but the bad name he earned keeps tagging along with him.

Meanwhile, Esther, impressed with Arul’s change, advices him to earn money through fishing. As per Esther’s advice Arulappasamy tries hard sincerely and manages to buy a boat of his own.

Arul and Esther get married and the film rolls 2 years forward from here. At this stage, Arul and Esther are seen with a boy baby leading a happy life. As usual, Arulappasamy goes to the sea for fishing and doesn’t return even after two days. His father rushes to the sea in search of him and brings back a shocking news to the family. What happens next forms the film’s climax.

Review :
First of all, director Seenu Ramasamy’s casting is the one which gives life to the script. All the characters, including the leads Sunaina and Vishnu, perfectly match their roles and the image makeover is natural. Both Sunaina and ViIshal have done a decent job in their roles and their image makeover perfectly suits the character they play.

Seenu once again impresses with his dialogues which he has penned along with veteran writer Jayamohan.

Coming to the music, composer NR Raghunanthan, has done a fabulous job with his BGM and has delivered two good numbers 'Para Para Pattampuchi' and 'Menukku', in this film.

Balasubramaniem's cinematography captures the lifestyle of the fishermen and gives a realistic feel to the film.

The film seems to be dragging at times as there are no surprise packages to keep the audience on the edge of their seats. Except Arulappasamy getting lost in the sea, the film lacks interesting knots which bores the audience.

Verdict : Neerparavai is an real Sentimental Film...

Rating : 3.5 / 5
