Naan Movie Review and Rating
Music director Vijay Antony has turned actor and also a producer with 'Naan' and the film also marks the debut of Jeeva Shankar, former assistant of late director Jeeva.
The film's protagonist Karthick, played by Vijay Antony is good in studying by suffers a lot in his childhood. He is put in a Ramanathapuram reformatory school following the murder of his mother for infidelity. As yeas pass by, Karthick grows up and sets off from the school to begin a new life.
Karthick seeks the helps of his only relative he knows in Ramanathapuram and soon finds he is of no use. On his way to Chennai, Karthick meets a medical college student Salim. The bus which they travel gets into an accident in which Salim loses his life.
Karthick decides to take up his (Salim) identity and enters as a fresher in the medical college which has seat reserved for Salim. He makes friends with the other freshers and Ashok, played by Siddharth, becomes one of his close mate. Ashok and Salim stay together and share good rapport between each other.
Meanwhile, the speed bump appears in the tale comes when Salim and Ashok happens to meet the jailor of the reformatory school. Ashok doubts Salim when the jailor addresses him with his real name Karthick. From there on a series of twists and slew of killings tumbles Karthick's life and the climax forms the efforts made by the protagonist to get out of the clutches.
Highlights :
Director Jeeva Shankar, who has handled the direction and cinematography needs an applause for his maiden effort has made a mark. Except for the fact that the screenplay becomes predictable at times, the director has done a decent job in story narration. Hero's ideas which sprouts out whenever there is a need to handle tough situation, are good.
In the cinematography department, Jeeva Shankar has done the the best by shooting the scenes in realistic lighting and with good color sense.
Vijay Antony has made a good impression with his music rather than his acting. His BGM work impresses as it gives the thrill feel which the story needs the most. As far as the acting is concerned, Vijay Antony maintains a stiff look which, at times, is boring to look.
The concluding scenes of the film doesn't carry any logic, but the director given us a good reason to accept it which the “to be continued” line at the end of the film.
