Father Jayaram, mother Urvashi, and their two daughters who frequently quarrel—a middle-class family living a modest and peaceful life.
Meanwhile, a rowdy named Sandy is harassing Jayaram's daughter with unwanted romantic advances. As the harassment escalated day by day, his 'don' mother—supporting her son's romance—would occasionally threaten Jayaram's family.
The family members are considering whether to kill the rowdy Sandy to get rid of this trouble.
Meanwhile, Sandy is murdered. Mishkin, the police officer investigating the murder case, begins to suspect Jayaram's family. As he begins his investigation, members of Jayaram's family even start suspecting one another. Then, Jayaram's brother and Urvashi's brother arrive. Suspicion falls on them as well. *Parimala & Co.* tells the story of who killed Sandy? and why? blending comedy with a touch of social commentary.
The natural acting of the Jayaram-Urvashi pair and their well-timed comic dialogues have the theatre resounding with laughter.
Director Mysskin, who plays a police officer, delivers a menacing performance with his unique acting style.
His character, which appears ordinary at first, stuns the audience with an unexpected twist as the climax approaches.
Sandy shines in a new avatar as an actor. He commands attention by delivering a performance that transcends his image as a choreographer.
The playful performances of Sanjana Krishnamoorthy and Ananthika Sunil Kumar, who play sisters, reflect the nature of young women from middle-class families.
Actors such as G.K.M. Tamilkumaran, Yogi Babu, and Poornima Ravi have all been perfectly cast for their roles, adding strength to the film.
The visuals shine in a captivating manner, thanks to George C. Williams' cinematography.
All the songs composed by Foxon are peppy tracks that invite repeated listening. The background score also complements the film effectively, adding to its overall strength.
The work of editor Pradeep E. Ragav and art director T. Ramalingam has added strength to the film.
Director Pandiraj has taken up an issue concerning women and attempted to present it with humor rather than tragedy. While his effort succeeds in places, in many instances, the humor leaves the audience questioning the approach.
Just as some comedy scenes offer a sense of relief, director Pandiraj saves the film near the climax by delivering a strong piece of advice for the youth; in doing so, he successfully presents a movie that conveys a meaningful message and can be enjoyed by the whole family.
All in all, ‘Parimala & Co’ is an entertaining film—featuring some laughs and plenty of suspense—that can be watched with the whole family.
