In their village, Vaibhav Murugesan, Venkat Balamurali, and Jagabar Sadiq form a team called ‘Mammatiyaan Stars’ and achieve success in local tournaments. Meanwhile, the protagonist Vaibhav Murugesan and the female lead Lavanya, who are in a relationship, stop speaking to each other due to a minor issue.

A major cricket tournament is organized to mark the 70th birthday of the village head, Mottai Rajendran. The three young men hope to win this tournament and use the prize money to watch the final match played by the famous cricketer Dhoni in person.

However, Rajendran suddenly passes away, causing the local tournament to be cancelled. After taking ₹10,000 from Vivek Prasanna—who runs a local tea shop—under the pretext of taking him along to watch the match, they ditch him and take Lavanya to Chennai instead.

They then steal ₹30,000 from the village panchayat funds to cover the remaining expenses. However, they lose the ₹40,000 they had pooled to buy match tickets. Desperate to watch Dhoni’s final match, they decide to assist Sampath Ram, who is involved in cricket betting.

At the same time, the entire village discovers that they were the ones who stole the money from the panchayat. Did the four of them eventually get to see Dhoni play? Did Sampath Ram win his bet? Did they return the stolen panchayat money? The rest of the story of the ‘Mammattiyan Stars’ web series answers these questions.

Vaibhav Murugesan, Lavanya Anbazhagan, Venkat Balamurali, and Jagabar Sadiq have all performed their roles effectively. In particular, the romance between Vaibhav Murugesan and Lavanya feels natural and convincing.

The entire cast—including Mottai Rajendran (as the village head), Vivek Prasanna (running a tea shop), Sampath Ram (involved in cricket betting), the hostel students, and Warden Sarath—integrates seamlessly into the narrative.

Composer Bharath’s music complements the flow of the story perfectly, while P.M. Rajkumar’s cinematography renders the visuals both beautiful and grand.

Director Savir Sudhakar has crafted a screenplay centered on whether the villagers who gather to watch the match become consumed by the frenzy surrounding it. He has woven together elements of cricket passion, romance, friendship, emotions, and anger to deliver a gripping story.
