“I Particularly Appreciated the Style, Incredible Action, Set Pieces, and Simplicity”: Stephen Lang on Joining Sisu: Road to Revenge
Stephen Lang is no stranger to portraying formidable foes, but his latest turn as Yeagor Dragunov in Sisu: Road to Revenge pits him against one of the genre’s most unbreakable forces: Jorma Tommila’s Aatami Korpi. Fresh off iconic roles in Don’t Breathe and the Avatar films, Lang was drawn to the brutal beauty of Jalmari Helander’s world: its stripped-down storytelling, visceral action, and unwavering sense of style.
“I enjoyed the first film very much,” Lang says. “I particularly appreciated its style, incredible action set pieces, and simplicity. Then I read the script for Road to Revenge, which is reflective of the first but at the same time quite different. I was excited about the prospect of helping to continue this story through Jalmari’s compelling and unified vision.”
Producer Petri Jokiranta and the creative team see Lang’s Dragunov as the ideal counterweight to Aatami—a presence built not on lengthy dialogue, but on sheer cinematic force. As producer Mike Goodridge notes, both characters command attention with little more than their physicality and aura. “Stephen is a wonderful new addition to this universe and the perfect counterpart to Jorma’s Aatami. He fits in perfectly with the aesthetic and provides a massive jolt of evil energy. I think he will really shake up audiences.”
Sony Pictures' Sisu: Road to Revenge releases in India on 21st November in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu
