Rajkiran leads a contented life in a picturesque village near Theni, surrounded by his loving wife Geetha Kailasam and their young son Dhanush.
Rajkiran operates a quaint idli shop in the village, which he cherishes deeply. He finds immense pleasure in witnessing the delight of his customers as they savor the idlis made from freshly ground batter, prepared with love and care in a traditional stone grinder.
Dhanush spends his childhood in the idli shop. After pursuing his studies in catering, he relocates to Bangkok and secures a job with the affluent Sathyaraj, paving the way for his own success.
Arun Vijay and Shalini Pandey play the roles of Sathyaraj's son and daughter, respectively. Shalini develops feelings for Dhanush, and Sathyaraj approves of their romance.
The marriage between Dhanush and Shalini is imminent. Meanwhile, Arun Vijay portrays the character of a son who recklessly splurges his father's wealth.
Arun Vijay develops a strong aversion towards Dhanush due to Sathyaraj's constant comparisons, where he is unfavorably measured against Dhanush's achievements and character.
Upon learning of Rajkiran's demise, Dhanush rushes back to his village. In a devastating turn of events, he loses his mother just a day after laying his father to rest.
Dhanush finds solace in the company of Nithya Menen, an old school friend, as he navigates his loneliness. Unwilling to part with the memories of his father's home and idli shop, Dhanush decides to stay put and cancels his wedding plans with Shalini Pandey.
Believing that Dhanush has brought immense shame to his family, Arun Vijay sets out to exact revenge and tracks him down to his village.
The remainder of the film explores the consequences and developments that follow, shaping the narrative into a compelling story.
Dhanush consistently delivers outstanding performances in every role, and this film showcases his remarkable acting prowess. He fully embodies the character of Murugan, bringing a nuanced portrayal across three distinct phases of his life. Dhanush's ability to bring a fresh perspective to each project is evident in this film, making it a compelling watch.
The on-screen chemistry between Dhanush and Nithya Menen is palpable, and their mutual understanding enhances the film's emotional depth. Nithya Menen's subtle yet impactful reactions stand out, showcasing her impressive acting skills.
Rajkiran is the backbone of the film, and although his screen presence is brief, the story's foundation rests on his character, lending depth and substance to the movie.
Despite a brief appearance, Parthiban brings depth and charm to his character, leaving a lasting impression.
Arun Vijay delivers a compelling performance, masterfully evolving his character beyond the initial villainous impression. The pre-intermission fight between him and Dhanush is a standout sequence that greatly enhances the film.
The film's soundtrack and background score are instrumental in its success. With the songs already being well-received, GV Prakash Kumar's background music elevates the emotional impact of the scenes, showcasing his mastery.
The cinematography is stunning, bringing each scene to life with finesse. The fight sequences, night scenes, and song sequences are especially well-crafted, showcasing the cinematographer's skill in creating memorable visuals.
Dhanush demonstrates his directorial skills, handling the first half of the film with a delicate touch, crafting a narrative that's as smooth as a drawn line.
Dhanush masterfully sets the tone and emotional core of the film, effortlessly pulling the audience into the story and keeping us invested in its journey.
The characters are meticulously crafted, and the screenplay shows evident care and attention. Despite a slight dip in pace during the second half, the film's portrayal of love through compassion and non-violence makes it an engaging and impactful experience.
