Bison - Review

The film begins with the Asian World Kabaddi tournament finals between India and Pakistan, taking place in Japan in 1994.

Pasupathi, a farmer, lives in the Vanathi village of Tirunelveli district with his elder daughter Rajisha Vijay and son Dhruv Vikram. Dhruv, who has been passionate about Kabaddi since childhood, aspires to achieve great success in the sport.

Meanwhile, school PT instructor Aruvi Madhan notices Dhruv Vikram's talent and gets him into the school Kabaddi team. However, Dhruv's father Pasupathi disapproves of his Kabaddi playing. His sister Rajisha Vijay, on the other hand, supports Dhruv Vikram's passion.
Meanwhile, a fierce rivalry erupts between Ameer and Lal, who belong to different caste groups. One faction supports Ameer as their leader, while the other faction celebrates Lal as theirs.

Impressed by Dhruv's sporting skills, Lal recruits him into his Kabaddi team. However, Ameer poses a threat to Lal's life, inadvertently jeopardizing Dhruv's chances of advancing further.

Dhruv earns a spot in the Tamil Nadu state-level Kabaddi tournament with his skills. However, despite his talent, his name is dropped from the list of players selected for the national-level tournament.

The rest of the story revolves around whether Dhruv ultimately makes it to the Indian sports team or not, and whether he participates in the match against Pakistan.

Dhruv Vikram, playing the role of Bison, stands tall as a vibrant youngster who fearlessly confronts adversaries and forges ahead. He excels in portraying love, longing, action, and emotional depth, winning hearts with his impressive performance. His tireless effort carries the entire film on his shoulders.

Pasupathi, who plays Dhruv Vikram's father, impresses with his understated yet powerful performance, conveying much without saying a word.

The cast, including Anupama Parameswaran as the heroine, Rajisha Vijayan as the hero's sister, Aruvi Madhan as the PT teacher, and Ameer and Lal, are all apt choices for their respective roles, bringing the story to life.
Nivas K. Prasanna's music compositions are hummable, and the background score complements the narrative. Ezhil's cinematography adds strength to the film.

Director Mari Selvaraj has crafted a film centered around how society marginalizes an aspiring youngster. Kudos to the director for maintaining an unpredictable narrative throughout, keeping viewers engaged till the end.
