Felicitation Ceremony Of Arjuna Awardee Grandmaster R. Praggnanandhaa Held At Velamma

 

A grand Felicitation Ceremony was hosted at Velammal Main School, Mogappair Campus on 7th December, 2022 to congratulate the Prince of Chess 

Grandmaster R. Praggnanandhaa for receiving the prestigious Arjuna Award.

The Top seeded Chess Star received the country's second -highest sporting honour from President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan, Delhi during the National Sports and Adventure Awards- 2022 Ceremony recently.

This grand ceremony was presided over by Shri  Siva V Meyyanathan, 

Honourable Minister of Environment Climate Change, Youth Welfare & Sports Development of Tamilnadu. The school endowed the Chess Icon with a cash award of Rupees Seven Lakhs and paid a special tribute for scripting history. 

 

Chaotic scenes unfolded when students of Velammal enthusiastically welcomed him. Pragg thanked the school for the constant support and expressed his gratitude to his teachers and mentors for preparing him over the years. 

Velammal heralds the Prince of chess as he has made the school proud and the school encouraged him to reach the pinnacle of success with grit and determination. It was a remarkable day for one and all.
