Makkal Auto Appoints Hijab Clad Women And Transgenders As Pilot

Aimed at safer travel for women and providing employment opportunities to the needy, Makkal Auto on Wednesday employed transgenders and hijab clad women as pilots for their autos. Apart from this, a few transgenders have also been given jobs in the Makkal Auto call centre. 

Already, Makkal Auto with 330 female drivers boasts of the largest women fleet. It is operating in Chennai, Madurai, Tiruchy and areas along the entire Nellai belt. It will be introduced in Coimbatore, Erode, Salem and Tirupur by March.

"With this initiative, we are addressing two crucial issues in one go -- providing a respectable, lucrative livelihood option to women in need while making the daily commute of their well-to-do counterparts safe and hassle-free," said Mansoor Ali Khan, Founder and Chairman, MAuto Group of companies.

Apart from this, they have also launched Women's Pride icon on their mobile app-- M Auto Pride which gives you an option to choose whether you want to ride with a male, female or transgender pilot. "Even if a women pilot is not near your area, not to worry. We will arrange within five to ten minutes," assured Mansoor Ali Khan.

Princess of Sharah ,UAE, Sheikha Hend Faisal Al Qassemi was the Guest of Honour. Other guests who attended the event include music director Ghibran, Green Man of India, Abdul Ghani, CEO M Auto Pride, Yasmeen Jawaharli and Strategy Advisor, M Auto Pride, S Srinivasan.

Like other app based aggregators, even M Auto's app comes with a panic button and tracking system. For the initial few days of the launch, there will be exciting offers for female riders.

Their mobile app ‘M Auto Pride’ can be downloaded from playstore or any other app store. Apart from the mobile application, a helpline -  044 4321 4321 is also available for the customers to book their rides.
