Smaran Sarvesh Creates National Record At Sathyabama Institute Of Science And Technology

Archery in Chennai received a boost as the Nine-year-old boy L R Smaran Sarvesh (born on January 28, 2009) from Chennai, creating a national record in the individual archery segment by shooting the most number of arrows from a distance of 70 meters at a 122 cm target face and shooting the most number of arrows blind folded at a target face of 80 cm from a distance of 10 meters.

The attempt, held at Dr. MGR Indoor Auditorium, Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India on August 11, 2018 in the presence of Indian Book of Records and Asia Books of Records adjudicator Dr Biswaroop Roy Chowdhury, Dr. Marie Johnson, President and Dr. Mariazeena Johnson, Pro Chancellor of Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology, was witnessed by a good number of archers, parents and media personnel as young L R Smaran Sarvesh armed with bow and arrows, completed his mission with élan.

He slammed 36 arrows on board blind folded in 8 minutes & 51 seconds from 10-meter distance on 80 cm target face thus creating a new record. “L R Smaran Sarvesh successfully completed 25 arrows on board from a distance of 70 meters at a 122 cm target face in 15 minutes & 55 seconds to create a record,” said Mr Roy, who presented the citation on behalf of India Book of records.

“Both the parents and grandparents of L R Smaran Sarvesh and coach Neela krishnan deserve a huge pat on their backs, for their untiring commitment to helping the kid reach his first major milestone in archery. 

Dr. Marie Johnson,  President and Dr. Mariazeena Johnson, Pro Chancellor of Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology Honoured national record holder Master L R Smaran Sarvesh with a cash money of Rs 50,000/-.

Speaking to the media persons the young Archer said ''he wanted to be in National Squad and win Gold Medal in olympics for India''.
