Peranbu Receive Laurels And Win Hearts Worldwide

China’s Shanghai International Film Festival is known as Asia’s Oscar Film Awards for its grandeur and celebration. The festival with a heritage of 21 years, had officially selected 6 films from India, this year. Among them, the only South Indian film is the Tamil film “Peranbu”.

Peranbu starring Megastar Mammootty, child artist Thangameenkal Sadhna, Anjali, Anjali Ameer and several others, is written and directed by Ram with music scored by Yuvan Shankar Raja. The film is produced by P L Thenappan under his production banner Shree Raajalakshmi Films.
Peranbu had its World Premiere earlier this January at the 47th edition of International Film Festival of Rotterdam (IFFR), Netherlands, which is regarded as world’s one of the most prestigious film festival. The film was nominated in the NETPAC Award category, an award given to the Best Asian film and was also nominated for the Audience Award category. Peranbu secured the 20th position based on the voting of the audience among the 187 films competing for the Audience Award. Peranbu was the only Indian film to be in the top 20 in the Audience Award category at Rotterdam.
The film had its Asian Premiere at China’s Shanghai International Film Festival on 16th June 2018. It was followed by a second screening on 17th June 2018 along with a “Meet the Audience” program. The film had a house full show following which it received a standing ovation for both the screenings at Shanghai similar to the ones at International Film Festival of Rotterdam.

The audience and the critics praised and lauded the soulful performance of Megastar Mammootty as world class. Likewise, Sadhna who debuted as Chellamma in the film “Thangameenkal” playing the role of “Paappa” in Peranbu moved the audience by her stellar performance.

In the interaction session with the Audience, one of the Chinese women informed that she is a big fan of Thangameenkal surprising director Ram and the crew that a Chinese audience had watched Thangameenkal. She further conveyed that she loved Peranbu more than Thangameenkal and wished the entire team for a huge success.

After gaining high accolades and praises from the audience and critics, Peranbu will have its third screening at Shanghai International Film Festival today (19th June) evening. The producer P L Thenappan conveyed that they are planning to release the film soon for the Indian audience.
