Review :
Mannar Vagaiyara action comedy film written and directed by Boopathy Pandian. The film is produced by actor Vemal, who also stars in the lead role alongside Anandhi while Prabhu, Chandini Tamilarasan and Karthik Kumar amongst others appear in supporting roles. Featuring music composed by Jakes Bejoy and cinematography by P. G. Muthiah and Sooraj Nallusamy
Karthik Kumar and Vemal are elder and younger sons of village chief Prabhu. One day, Karthik tries to commit suicide after marriage of his lover Chandhini gets fixed with her uncle. Vemal kidnpas chandini from the marriage hall and gets her married to his brother. Though both the families get along well, Chandhini’s brother and her uncle plan to take their revenge on Vemal.
This is when Vemal finds out that his lover Anandhi is actually the sister of Chandhini and there were plans to get her married to the uncle who was supposed to marry her sister. What did Vemal do after this, did his love succeed or not form the rest of the story.
Vemal is not new to village subject stories and he feels at ease in his character. Humour and sentiment have come out well. He does a good job in mass and action sequences too. Anandhi has got a bubbly role in the movie and is different from her previous movies. Her timing sense is also good. Chandhini and the rest of the cast have done their parts well.
Boopathy Pandian has given a movie which highlights the importance of family. However this story is not new to Kollywood and at times the screenplay tends to drag. Songs and BGM by Jakes Bejoy are adequate.
Rating - 2.5/5
