Review :

Richie directed by Gautham Ramachandran and written by Rakshit Shetty. A remake of the 2014 Kannada film Ulidavaru Kandanthe, the film stars Nivin Pauly in the titular role with Natarajan Subramaniam, Shraddha Srinath and Lakshmi Priyaa Chandramouli in the supporting roles.

Nivin Pauly who plays title role of the film is the son of a priest Prakash Raj. An incident during his childhood lands him in the juvenile home after which he becomes a rogue and starts working for a local gangster. Meanwhile, Natty Nataraj, a boat mechanic flees, his village after the murder of a close friend. The movie talks about the life of both these characters and how a series of events makes them meet and leads to the climax.

Nivin Pauly has shed his image of a lover boy in this movie and has taken up the role of a troubled youngster. He has done almost everything right for the role. Natty has got an role equivalent to that of a lead character and he has got into the skin of the role. Shraddha Srinath plays the role of a journalist and has done her part well, but she could have been utilised more. The other actors such as Prakash Raj, Tulasi and Lakshmipriya Chandramouli have have given life to their respective characters.

Gautham Ramachandran has taken a bold move making some changes from the original movie Ulidavaru Kandante and has added some commercial elements to the movie. Music by Ajaneesh Lokanath has elevated the action sequences and has given an added boost to the mood of the movie. The songs too have come out well.

Rating - 3/5
