‘Nimir’ captures the story of ‘Mahesh’, a small town photographer and his journey of self discovery and vengeance. This is not a typical run of the mill revenge thriller but a good blend of delightful humour, familial ties, heart-break, endearing romance, and an engaging screenplay. Priyadarshan in all his exuberance has left his stamp in the treatment of a simple story. It is a very refreshingly packaged family film. Udayanidhi Stalin plays ‘Mahesh’ who in his quest for self discovery, learns lessons of his trade, heart and vengeance served with respect and patience. MS Bhaskar Mahendran, and Samuthirakani’s screen presence is sure to wow the audience, while the dashing lass ‘Namitha Pramod’ has put in one of her best performances to date. Parvathi Nair has done justice to her supporting role.
The story is placed in ‘Thenkasi’. ‘Nimir’ displays a normal day to day life of the village folk and can easily connect with the common mass. Ekambaram has lent his eye to the lens and captured the routine lives of the villagers, their emotions and actions through the lives of its rustic characters and their sensibilities. Not to mention the scene beauty of the land scape immersed with it, the beauty of Tamil Culture. ‘Nimir’ is all set to entertain the masses, who quite definitely will leave the cinemas with a smile on their face.
Personal Statements
Priyadarshan:
“In a way this movie is very special to me. Primarily because I was one of those innumerable people in this industry who wanted to associate at least as an assistant to Mahendran sir. That never happened. Now that was an unfulfilled dream despite a long career through decades and in multiple industries. However, I was over the moon when we managed to convince Mahendran sir to play Udhaya’s father in this project. Now mind you, the positioning of this character is extremely important to the growth of the Udhaya’s character which is pretty much the core of the script. We couldn’t have been luckier. Feels somewhat, like a sweet revenge. And in fact, after narrating the script, it was Mahendran sir who suggested the title ‘NIMIR’. I don’t think anyone could have come up with a more apt title.
I don’t want to say anything about Samuthirakani. Because, anything I say will be an understatement. He makes his presence felt, in ways only he can.
Talking about Udhaya; I’m sure that the audience are in for a treat. I couldn’t have asked for more from him. No complaints, no hassles, he was determined to give his very best and I believe he has even surprised himself. He has delivered to my expectations, and I am sure this one is bound to make heads turn. He was completely immersed in the character. I did not have to correct him even once throughout the movie. He has done a brilliant job. Take it from me, he will be known for this one. And i couldn’t be prouder.
Namitha is playing the female lead in this project. She has come quite far from where she began. Her audiences have already embraced her well. And she has definitely delivered the goods. Parvati Nair has very interesting role. I’m sure audience will enjoy this character. All in all, this whole package has come together really well. I am confident the audience will definitely enjoy this one.”

“This is a dream project for me. To be working with the legend that Priyadarshan sir is, at an early phase of my career is a huge blessing. Working with Udayanidhi sir was a delight. One would never expect a person of his stature to be so humble and down to earth. He is very sincere in terms of his work.
The look of my character is so very well constructed and executed that I surprised myself with my screen presence and I never knew that I could look this beautiful. We have wrapped up the production and I am mighty excited about this wonderful project. I can’t wait for people to see this project. “
