Review :

Mom directed by Ravi Udyawar and produced by Boney Kapoor, Sunil Manchanda, Mukesh Talreja, Naresh Agarwal and Gautam Jain. The film stars Sridevi, Akshaye Khanna, Abhimanyu Singh, Sajal Ali and Adnan Siddiqui in lead roles, with Nawazuddin Siddiqui in a special appearance. Music for the film is being scored by A. R. Rahman.

MOM starts with stunning Devaki (Sridevi) walking into a class room as a teacher, in the same school where her step-daughter Arya studies.  The scene involves a part where a boy in class sends a porn video to Arya and Sridevi confiscates the phone.   The relationship between Devaki and Arya are not good as Arya  has not accepted Devaki  as her mother.  So Arys routes everything through her father (Adnan Siddiqui) and this is the same when it comes to a valentine’s night college party, that happens at a farm house. At the party, a mishap and fight with some boys from her school leads to abduction and gang-rape. Arya gets thrown away in a drain after. Then she gets admitted in a hospital and gives a statement identifying the rapists but as according to medical report which claims Arya has 0.8% alcohol in her body, her  statement became invalid and the accused also gets free due to lack of evidence. In this situation, Devaki decides to take revenge and meets private detective Dayashankar Kapoor aka DK (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) who agrees to snoop around for 'information'.  How Devaki uses the information to eliminate  her daughter’s wrongdoers, form rest of the story.

MOM is completely Sridevi’s film from the first frame. The star actress gives a mesmerizing performance and lights up the screen. National Award-winning actor, Nawazuddin Siddique plays his supporting role quite well. A R Rahman’s background score will surely give you goosebumps in many areas. The simple proceedings are taken to another level with his score. Production values by Boney Kapoor are stunning. The film is made on a low budget but looks quite rich in visuals. Ravi Udaywar, he has done a decent job with the film. Even though he chooses a routine script, he justifies it with his direction capabilities which fill the film with tense and emotional moments.
