Review :

Vanamagan action adventure film written and directed by Vijay. The film features Jayam Ravi and Sayyeshaa in the lead roles, while Varun plays a pivotal role and Harris Jayaraj is the music composer.

The story is basically based on an Andaman tribal who escapes from men trying to capture his people, ends up in the care of a rich girl who starts to fall in love with him who has come to the island to celebrate New Year with her friends.  This reminds us of Tarzan movie.  Jayam ravi acted so apt that he lived like a tribal than act. There’s also a sub-plot involving Kavya (heroine) and her parents’ suspicious death death due to an accident, involving her father's friend, Rajashekar (Prakash Raj). Meanwhile, Rajashekar’s son, Vicky (Varun), who is hoping to marry Kavya, is antagonistic towards Vaasi, and situations lead to Vaasi injuring him badly. Michael Raj (Sam Paul), a cop from Andaman, arrives just in time to take Vaasi back. Why do they need Vaasi, and what does Rajashekar do in retaliation?

Stunt Silva's fight scenes had sculptured Jayam Ravi as a real tribal man who jumps from tree to tree and hangings on cliffs, his moves etc. S. Thirunavakarasu's cinematographic scenes, feast on the lush locales, had doubled the beauty of Andaman and has enriched the movie and the viewers. Vijay unabashedly plays to the gallery. He uses the over-the-top performance of Jayam Ravi for comic effect, and for a while, the film feels like a mild diversion.

On the whole, Vijay has made this movie family friendly and can be watched with kids for its variety and vanmagan is a retreat, it has the potential to be a good family entertainer.

Rating - 2.75/5
