Review : 

Kavalai Vendam written and directed by Deekay. The film stars Jiiva and Kajal Aggarwal in the lead roles, while Bobby Simha, Sunaina and RJ Balaji play supporting roles. The film, which is said to be an urban romance "about first love, second chances and relationships", features music composed by Leon James, cinematography by Abinandhan Ramanujam and editing by Suresh. Produced by Elred Kumar.

The film begins with Divya (Kajal Aggarwal, wearing designer clothes and playing dumb charades) telling her friend Shilpa (Shruthi Ramakrishna) about her fiancé Arjun (Bobby Simhaa, in an ‘American Maappillai’ role of sorts) and narrating episodes involving her first husband Aravind (Jiiva, looking fresh but adding little else), whom you could either dub happy-go-lucky or yet-another-wastrel. Divya goes to Conoor to get Aravind to sign their divorce papers, but he still pines for her (they are childhood friends, after all), and wants her to be his wife for a week. And just when they seem on the verge of rekindling their old flame, Arjun arrives, complicating things.

Jiiva seems like the perfect choice for the role, being effortlessly flippant, funny and intensely emotional. Kajal looks as pretty as a picture and gives a good performance. RJ Balaji scores big time in Kavalai Vendam. Great visuals from cinematographer Abinandhan Ramanujam and few soulful songs from Leon James. Kavalai Vendam still, would've been an enjoyable ride had Deekay given more screen space and prominence to the character artists.
