Paralympic Medalists Felicitated By Velammal

Velammal Vidyalaya, a CBSE School at Alapakkam, located in the heart of the city was started this year. Its holistic approach to inculcate self confidence in children makes all round learning a part of its curriculum.We had invited eminent personalities to motivate our students such that we believe if students were shown their “ROLE MODEL”, they definitely follow them and become a real hero in their life time. Some of the Eminent Personalities who had visited our institution were His Excellency Dr. A.P.J Abdul Kalam, Former Prime Minister Shri. H.D. Deve Gowda, Dr. R. Chidhambaram, Dr. K.Kasturirangan, Dr. M.S.Swaminathan, Shri. Rakesh Sharma, Shri. T.N Seshan, Shri. Kapil Dev, Shri. Shivkhera, Shrimathi. P.T Usha, Shri. Dhanraj Pillai, Shri. Baichung Butia, Mr.Sachin Tendulkar, Mr.Virendra Sehwag, Yogesh Dutt, Ms.Mary Komb, Mr.Vijendra Kumar, Mr.Mathew Hayden,Mr.Chris Gayle and many Academicians, Nobel Laureates, well known Social Activist, Doctor of repute, etc.,

The highlight of the day was Felicitation of Mr.Mariyappan with a CAR, Mr.Devendra Jhajharia, Ms.Deepa Malik and Mr.Varun Singh Bhati with a GOLD COIN worth   5,00,000/- (FIVE LAKHS) each for their achievement in RIO 2016. Thereby, the ceremony is followed by the felicitation of  the young achievers who are nurtured in academics and an interaction with the sports legends .The spotlight of the event was the Children of Guild of Service celebrated Diwali with the Sports Para-Athletes.

Under the guidance of the art teachers, Vel’s  Art Students wall painting measuring 80 sq.feet, was unveiled by the Sports Para-Athletes.
