Review :

Vaaimai written and directed by A. Senthil Kumar, a former associate of Vasantha Balan. It
has Shanthnu Bhagyaraj's and Muktha Bhanu of Thaamirabharani fame in the lead roles. The
film marks the return of ace comedian Goundamani, while Thyagarajan, Ramki, Urvashi,
Manoj K. Bharathi and Poornima Bhagyaraj are also part of the cast.

Velan (Prithvi Pandiarajan) was accused for murdering a top politician and the Judge issues
death sentence to him. Velan’s mother (Poornima) was also arrested as she has allegedly
helped her son in committing the crime but the Judge decides to bring the jury system which
comprises of twelve people from different walks of life including a philosopher (Shanthanu),
pilot (Bhanu), tough cop (Ramki), doctor (Goundamani), writer(Manoj K Bharathi),  military
officer (Thiagarajan), transgender (Rose) and many others. The group have two hours before
an execution and start their discussion. There is a fair bit of difference in opinions and what
should have been a nail biting rollercoaster ride turns out to be a ride on a road engine.

Shantanu Bhagyaraj, he should try to act naturally. Bhanu is quite convincing as the firebrand
pilot but sadly her character underwritten like all the others.  Goundamani provides some
comic relief with his top brand of satirical comedy, while Urvashi tries to match wits with him.
Poornima Bhagyaraj Theyagarajan and Ramki the veterans fall prey to poorly depicted
characterizations.  Bhagyaraj in his cameo, though little unconvincing as a SP.  Manoj K
Bharathi follows the Shantanu route in acting. Prithvi has a blink and you miss role and he can
consider that a boon judging by the fate of the others who have more screen time. Dialogue
Writing is good throughout the movie. All other departments should have done better.
