Review : 

Appa written, produced and directed by Samuthirakani. The film features Samuthirakani himself in the lead role. There are many supporting roles in the movie such as Thambi Ramaiah, Namo Narayana, J. Vigesh, Preethi, Gabriella and Yuvalakshmi. Music composed by Ilaiyaraaja.

Dhayalan ( Samuthirakani ) is an ideal father who will be very friendly with his children, and believes that, just scoring a high grade, should not only be the aim of children in their life. He believes in encouraging his children and makes them to think independently. He is keen on teaching them how to go forward in their life and guides them in learning whats good and whats wrong. Singaperumal (Thambi Ramiah), he is quite opposite Dhayalan, where he will be taking his own decisions about his children and he will be very strict and make his son to follow his decision blindly.

Next is Nadunilaiyan (Namo Narayana), he is normal, he will not be that much strict or guides and support his children. So, the story revolves around Dhayalan, Singaperumal, Namo Narayana and their respective kids. Now how will the children’s life go ahead with different types of father is clearly shown in this film, so to know about all those things, you need to go watch the film on big screens.

Both Samuthirakani and Thambi Ramaiah are brilliant, and the spontaneity of the children adds some light moments to the narrative. Namo Narayana too, has come up with a commendable act. Among the kids, Vignesh, Gabriella and Yuvalakshmi have outshone others. Dialogues serve as both positives and negatives of Appa. Ilaiyaraaja music is unremarkable, but cameraman Richard M Nathan perfectly captures the beauty of the small town.
