The 1st Sathram in Tamil Nadu was conducted by Sree Ayyappa Bhaktha Sabha in 2012 at the Mahalingapuram Ayyappan-Guruvayurappan Temple, and since then this has become an annual event.
It is believed that Srimad Bhagavatha Sapthaha Yagnam, for the first time, was held at Naimisharanyam situated on the bank of the Holy river Gomathi, in Uttar Pradesh, about 5000 years ago, and the first Sathram was conducted by Sounakadi Munis at this place. In Kerala the first Srimad Bhagavatha Sathram was conducted in 1983 at Kuruchithanam in Kottayam District by the local acharyas. So far over 34 Bhagavatha Sathrams have been conducted in Kerala, and this has now grown up to a great Hindu Spiritual Satsang.
