Sahitya Akademi Announced Vairumuthu's Kallikattu Ithikasam Translating in 23 Languages


Kallikattu Ithikasam epic novel written by Kavingar Vairumuthu. Kallikattu Ithikasam is the story of cleaned up 14 villages for Vaigai dam construction. The novel based on that village people's struggles with pain for life and soil.

The novel is written in dialect with World Class Quality and won the Sahitya Akademi Award for the year 2003.

The novel was published in Tamil in India and Sahitya Akademi was tried to bring the reach around the world. So far, it reaches major achievement in the world of novel, which has sold 1 million prints and more.

Kallikattu Ithikasam epic novel also released at England with presence of Education Minister Stephen tims and Mayor Robin Wales On 2003. They both are very impressed with the novel and requested to release in English also.

Sahitya Akademi Decided to translate in English and all Indian 23 languages Assamese - Bengali - Poda - Dogri - Gujarati - Hindi - Kannada - Kashmiri - Konkani - Maithili - Malayalam - Manipuri - Marathi - Nepali - otiya - Punjabi - Rajasthani - Sanskrit - Santhali - Sindhi - Telugu - Urdu.

Recently Secretary of Sahitya Academy Cinivasa Rao wrote a letter to Kavingar Vairumuthu, The translation work will begin as soon.

Kavingar Vairamuthu Say's This translation will create a cultural bridge between Tamil and Indian languages. Releasing Function will conducted in their respective state capitals when the translation is finished.
