Odomos Takes Fight Against Dengue To Schools In Chennai
Odomos, India's most preferred
personal application mosquito repellant brand from the House of Dabur, today
announced the launch of a new initiative aimed at preventing school-going children
in Chennai from falling prey to the deadly mosquito-borne disease Dengue. Under
this initiative, aimed at equipping children with knowledge about Dengue and
turning them into Dengue-Fighters, Odomos,
along with healthcare professionals from leading hospital chain Apollo
Hospitals, will visit schools across Chennai and seek to educate students, teachers as well as parents
about effective prevention from Dengue.
Besides Chennai, the Dengue Fighters initiative will cover schools
across Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka. Under this initiative, schools
across these cities will also be ranked and rated on the basis of the Dengue
prevention measures implemented by them, and a Dengue Report Card of each city
will be prepared.
The healthcare professionals will educate school children about all
aspects of mosquitoes and the deadly mosquito-borne disease Dengue. “Contrary to popular perception, Dengue is spread by the Aedes mosquito that
is more active during the day-time. Children, when they venture out to play in
gardens or even while in school, are at risk of being bitten by these
mosquitoes. Even people in offices are at risk of falling sick after being
bitten by these mosquitoes. At Dabur, we are committed to the health and
well-being of every household. And this initiative is aimed at taking this
mission further by making children ‘Dengue fighters’ in their surroundings in
school and at home. By spreading awareness about curbing mosquito breeding
during the Monsoon season by taking certain measures,” Dabur India Ltd Brand Head – Odomos Mr. Rajat Wahi said.
Under this initiative, Dabur
representatives will visit over 1,100 schools across these states. This
initiative will reach out to over 700,000 students across India, in addition to
around 40,000 teachers. Schools will also
be encouraged to implement measures to prevent mosquito breeding and spread of mosquito
borne diseases. A special Audio Visual has been developed to spread the message
among kids and educate them about how mosquitoes breed and the effective
measures to be taken to prevent this.
“As a brand, we have been working towards helping people stay safe from Dengue
and other such mosquito-borne diseases through product innovations and extensive
R&D over the years. Taking this further, we have taken up this social
initiative to help build public awareness. There has been significant increase
in the number of Dengue cases in recent years. One important factor is
ignorance and negligence towards hygiene. The need of the hour is to spread
awareness around preventive measures and encourage a disciplined community, so
that people may safeguard themselves from Dengue. Under this campaign, we will
be spreading awareness about Dengue and how children can protect themselves
from it. We will also be involving the parents and teachers in this exercise by
sharing how they can curb dengue at home and school” Mr. Wahi added. Healthcare professionals from Apollo Hospitals will
also part of this initiative.
About Odomos
Odomos offers 100% protection
against mosquito bites. New advanced Odomos range uses a formula which masks
the distinctive body odour that human skin emits. Therefore, the mosquito
cannot detect the human being, making the individual invisible to the mosquito.
Conventional mosquito repellants, like liquid vapourisers, mats and coils,
offer protection when one is in the closed confines of a room, whereas the
Odomos personal application range offers protection not only inside the house
but also when one is outdoors where the chances of getting bitten by
disease-causing mosquitoes is very high. It is also certified to be safe for
use on infants and children in a test conducted by leading paediatricians. Odomos
is a personal application product that offers users complete protection from
day-time mosquitoes that spread such life-threatening diseases.
