Day 1 - 11th July 2015:
Studio 9696 - My name is Sandeep Ravi. I don’t wake
up with perfect hair. Given a choice, I’d eat unlimited buffet breakfasts and
lunches every day. I’m a leg spinner and could bowl my brother out in three
balls tops. I fix my own light bulbs and could bet a thousand bucks that I’ll
kick your butt at Grand Theft Auto.
Here’s the thing though – I also love dressing up, flowers and stilettos. I love sitting up all night with my best friends and always cry at the end of 27 Dresses. I cannot imagine going a day without my hair straightener. I’m also getting married to the boy of my dreams next week. And I’ve imagined this wedding since I was 15.
Studio 9696 allows me to be myself. All of it/me. The bridal wear collection is exquisite, traditional, and yet as quirky as I am. From bright reds to bright greens, the Indian collection is intricately embroidered with unique surface techniques. There’s also the canvas shoes and jackets – sorry, but they’re non-negotiable.

Mathusha: Exotic summer collection brings you highly
elegant ethnic wear which makes your presence radiant.
Show Stopper: Sonia Agarwal
Indrajith: Collection has a unique style of its own,
reflecting the ancient traditions of Sri Lankan handloom craftsmanship in
contemporary styling. Fabrics are based on a monochromatic palette with vibrant
jewel tone highlights. Innovative use of handloom fabrics to create garments
with exaggerated volumes. Collection reflects the finest silk handloom fabrics
and craftsmanship from cross the country.
Show Stopper: Ishwarya Rajesh
Ritu Kumar: The collection reflects the high end of
the Ritu Kumar repertoire which is both rich and diverse in its
rendering of styles and shapes which encompass various moods. The strength of
the line is the recreation of the textile crafts for which the brand is known
for. The show opens with a presentation of a collection of whites inspired from
India’s most perennial aesthetic of gossamer jaalis and layered light patterns.
The collection then culminates with the Ritu Kumar couture
collection. The interpretation of the theme uses expert workmanship of the atelier.
It carries forward the vintage mood of the previous segment but in its Indian
avatar. The bridal line taking the finale to its finish recreates a historical
era of royal houses and traditional ethos which spans the influences of Indian
heritage textiles down the ages, amalgamates them as well as gives them a
contemporary look.
Show Stopper: Nandita Shwetha
