Voices in Harmony Event Stills
For
the past few years, the Rhapsody Music Foundation headed by pianist
Anil Srinivasan, and aided by vocalist Dr Sudha Raja has been working
with children across different demographies in the city, and now reach
over 60,000 children. The aim of the foundation is to reach music as a facilitative educational aid to as many children as possible.
Their collaboration with known NGO NalandaWay has resulted in a pathbreaking intervention in the Corporation of Chennai schools where children now learn visual art and music from trainers trained by both the foundations.
On June 21st, to celebrate World Music Day, Rhapsody Music Foundation celebrated "Voices in Harmony", a specially curated event, supported by ITC Mangaldeep. Over a thousand children will raise their voices in harmony,
and across demographic divides and show unity in diversity. Many
children who participated in the Rhapsody-The Hindu Young World summer
workshops also participated alongside children from several city and
Corporation of Chennai schools.
AR Rahman's Sunshine Orchestra - a special initiative with
children from underprivileged backgrounds - also performed that evening
under their dynamic conductor and Rahman aide Mr Srinivas Murthy.
Sangita
Kalanidhi and Padmabhushan Awardee Sudha Ragunathan was the chief
guest, and popular music director Harris Jayraj was the guest of honour for the evening.
