I am Ready to Help Children with Special Needs

I am Ready to Help (IRTH) is an initiative to support and help children with special needs and their parents. Parents are a child's best advocate. However, advocating for your child's special needs can be a difficult, and at times, confusing process. Especially without the awareness of what can be done to help the child and a lack of resources to provide the help to the child. This is where IRTH steps in to help the children. Having experience with providing therapy to special children through our sister organisation, KaRe Therapy Center, the people behind IRTH function with the specific aim of providing such therapy to as many special children as possible. To this end, we advocate for these children and their parents so that they can be supported.

Our Vision is simple; we want people to be aware of children with special needs and therefore support them by being understanding and helpful. We also seek to raise funds for special children without resources, so that they can have access to the rehabilitative care that they require.

IRTH's pink polish Campaign is a program that attempts to achieve a little bit of this vision. Since March 8th is celebrated as women's day all over the world, we decided to focus on the girl child with special needs for this program. The campaign, happening on March 9th is a proactive one; we want our supporters to paint their nails pink, snap a picture and share it on their social media. Doing this not only creates awareness but also is a wonderful way to show your support for the girl child with special needs. We also screened our documentary for the first time. This documentary captures the need for intervention for children with special needs and especially focuses on the girl child with special needs and the importance of therapy for them.

Hosting the program in Ethiraj College for women, we had invited several successful women, all leaders in their own field. Our guests included; Mrs.Regeena Jeppiaar, Director of Jeppiaar College, Dr.Mini Rao a celebrity psychologist and a vocal icon in the Chennai community. Ms. Apsara Reddy who is a proud transgender woman, a leading journalist, a TV personality and an activist.

Ms.Anupama Kumar, a tv actress and model, Ms.Vasanthi Babu from Jeevan Foundation, Ms. Sruthi Kannath, designer and entrepreneur, Ms.Runima Biswas, Director of Toni and Guy for South India, Ms.Pradhayini, a leading model and Nakshatra also a model.
