Elite Women Confederation First Year Anniversary Photos

The first anniversary celebration of Elite Women Confederation (EWC) took place at Hyatt Regency on Thursday. Being the month of March that celebrates women's day, the theme of this event was anti-rapism, one of the burning problems of today's women.

Expressing dislike about some of the movie lyrics that degrade women, Parveen Sultana said that the beauty of a woman lies in her communication skills and confidence than anything else. Insisting on sex education, Former Minister Poongothai said that India's daughter is a video that has to be watched by women to beware of the mentality of rapists. She further added that she recommended her daughters to watch the video.

Drawing women's attention on their favourite practice of shopping, C.K. Kumaravel said that they should refrain from their usual practices of shopping and cooking to break their stereotype and stay ahead of men. Bold and beautiful Vinaita Shivakumar, who has been helping rape survivors through NGOs threw light on treatment of rape victims and combating rape.

Sumathi Srinivas, Founder, EWC brought to notice about Soulmates foundation, a CSR activity of Twilite Creations that has been educating many people in the rural areas. Speaking on the theme of the event rape, she said, “Rape has prevailed since earlier times and now people have started causing violence against their own fellow women. It is each one of our responsibility to take care of our women. With stringent laws and vigilance, this problem can be grappled.”

Members of the EWC were presented with various awards on basis of their participation in the confedration. A cake cutting was organised to commemorate the anniversary. Various celebrities from the film industry including Viji Chandrasekhar, Jaya Murali, Neelima, Surekha and Poornima Bhagyaraj who were EWC members too were also present at the event.
