1000 Participated In International Short Film Festival of India 2015 Inauguration
After the traditional lighting of the Kuthuvilakku by the dignitaries and the words of welcome by Ms. Anne Colaso, the festival coordinator, Rev. Harris, the festival director and founder, gave the rationale of this initiative, and expressed his contentment on seeing the 9th edition saying, “What came in a small way has grown so much in these nine years, and I can see a great boom in this genre of short films. They have indeed become a powerful medium of communication, education, empowerment and entertainment”

M. Perarasu , Director Ram Prakash, Director, & Film Critic Cable Shankar, Actor & Cinematographer Aruldoss , Cameraman C.J.Rajkumar, Cameraman Deepak and Editor Sabu Joseph.
All the dignitaries gave their views on the role of Short films and the impact it has created in today’s society, specially among the younger generation.
Rev. Deva Joe was his inspiring self, highlighting the necessity of social consciousness that each filmmaker should have in his/her creation. Director SS Stanley in his address applauded the efforts of DBICA and his joy in constantly participating in ISFFI every year. Director Perarasu, recalled his long years of training as Assistant director, before he could make his debut as a filmmaker, and that such process could be easily bypassed today, if one had a short film today. Director Ram Prakash also mentioned that his short film paved the way for his recent Tamil feature film, and that film makers should keep a good sample of their creativity ready to attract and impress any producer. Noted film critic Cable Shankar, mentioned his association with DBICA for many years, and his experiences in having participated in many short film festivals. He also pointed out the irony, that while feature films were gradually becoming short and shorter, short films on the other hand were also becoming feature films.
Cameraman C.J. Raj Kumar, expressed his joy in coming back to a DBICA initiative, as his first short film Ayesha was specially screened and promoted by DBICA many years back. He exhorted the young minds, to create that which can excel and challenge. Veteran Scriptwriter, Actor and Director Ramdhass, appreciated the efforts of the short film makers and stressed that while film making could be looked at with commercial and vested interests, equal or more effort should be made on the part of the filmmaker to contribute to the society, in some constructive way.
Cinematographer and Actor Aruldoss also was in his humorous self, challenging the young short film makers to create stories that can powerfully communicate life’s messages and incite social and personal transformation. Cameraman Deepak also wished all the participants great learning and fun in viewing the 66 short films presented for the two days. Editor Sabu Joseph also expressed his joy in discovering the power of short films in today’s scenario, and expressed great hopes mounting in the genre of short films.
The first day of screening comprised a good selection of 30 short films, animation films and documentaries. The theatre was house full with a good number of viewers waiting to enter in. Thousands of young people and short film lovers flocked to the theatre, keeping it house full the whole day. Day one of ISFFI Season 9, brought in lot of new positive energy, specially through the active participation of visual communication students and hundreds of short film makers.
