Behindwoods Film Festival 2015 - Honoring & Awarding the Best Movies of Last Year

We at Behindwoods have always looked at cinema as a step or two above mere entertainment. Beyond just dignified, comprehensive and ethical reporting, we took our passion and commitment towards Tamil cinema to the next level, with the Behindwoods Gold Medals and the Behindwoods Film Festival in 2014-mid. After the rousing reception to our inaugural twin events last year, we were all gunned up for more innovative ideas to present to our viewers.

In our continued endeavors to present Tamil cinema in the best possible manner to our audience, the Behindwoods Film Festival entered its second year in an all-new avatar. Like last year, the ten best movies of the preceding year, 2014, were handpicked by our home-grown team of film experts in consultation with the best industry minds. These ten movies - Kaththi, Madras, Jigarthanda, Kochadaiiyaan, Pisaasu, Mundasupatti, Goli Soda, Vaayai Moodi Pesavum, Saivam and Velaiyilla Pattathari, were screened at the state of the art Tagore Film Center in Chennai from the 23rd to the 25th of January 2015. These well-attended screenings were followed by day-long back to back interactive workshops on January 26th at the Lady Andal Auditorium Chennai, featuring the cast and crew of these ten films and an enthusiastic audience who were all too thrilled at this unique opportunity to interact with some of the best minds in the business. The directors, lead actors, music directors, cinematographers, producers and distributors of these ten movies were honored with the Behindwoods Film Festival Awards by respected senior members of film fraternity.

Big names such as Singeetham Srinivasa Rao, Radha Ravi, K.S.Ravikumar, Nassar, A.R.Murugadoss, KV Anand, Karthi, Mysskin, Soundarya Rajinikanth, Siddharth, Velraj, Vivek, Pandiarajan, Samuthirakani, Director Vijay, Vijay Milton, Karthik Subbaraj, Bobby Simha, Pa. Ranjith, Gnanavel Raja, C.V.Kumar, P.Madan, Dhananjayan, T Siva, SA Chandrasekar, Balaji Mohan, Santhosh Narayanan, Nanditha to name a few, were among those in attendance and they answered all the interesting posers thrown at them with utmost patience and poise. The ten sessions spread across the day were packed with edutainment, memorable moments, tremendous audience participation, candid admissions and never-heard-before know-how. Our in-house team at Behindwoods pulled off an event of this stature, with the help of the dedicated volunteers and an unwavering backstage crew. We were professional and meant business from the onset.
