Kalki's "Ponniyin Selvan" is being made as an animation Movie!

Among, Hostorical Novels in Tamil, "Ponniyin Selvan" has Star Status. After being nationalized, it has been published many a times by maximum number of publishers.

This famous novel has been taken to the next level by making it as an Animation Film

We met the producer of this two and half an hour duration movie Mr.P.Saravanaraja.

When there are so many novels in Tamil, why do you choose to do "Ponniyin Selvan" as an Animation Movie?

That has so many readership and fans. I also personally like that story. Read it 5 times. Such a wonderful making, it is. So, decided to take such a famous book to the next level.

In Today’s, commercialized and globalised environment, will historical novels be received well?

It depends on the manner in which it is presented. We have enough reasons to make this in today's environment.

Today's generation should be made to remember Tamizh's pride, Tamizharin History, Culture and our Heritage. Unless we get into activities like this, all the above will be forgotten.

When you have a look at the History of Tamilnadu, you can say Cholas Rule was Golden Era. Among them RajaRajaCholan was one of the best , he was  good in caring for the people , praising The Lord , winning the wars, supporting the intellectuals and many such things .

Ponniyin Selvan is an Epic made around the story of RajaRajaCholan becoming the King of Chola Kingdom with historical truth and facts. By making this animation movie, the rich heritage of Tamils can be understood well.

Will today’s generation like those old pride?

They will. Through this effort, we convey that Tamizh's Pride, which is not an empty pride, which is real history and needs to be preserved. This 2D Animation Movie is made to reach out today's generation with these messages.

While making an Animation Movie, what are the important aspects to be looked into?

The challenges are, how do we fit in such a lengthy story within the duration of the film without compromising the story line, at the same time maintaining interesting facts as it is.

How do you refine it using Technology?

A live action movie requires numerous number of actors, huge money because of that, lack of natural shooting space etc.

In an Animation movie, all these can be handled using technology.

The Animation Director of the Movie M.Karthikeyan is put up with 20 years of experience in this industry and has the talent to create Animation Characters and known for it . We have teamed up few professionals from the Tamil Movie Industry who promised us to play a supportive role wherever necessary.

I am sure those Back End Support will go a long way in making this venture successful.

What are important aspects you touch upon in this movie?

Making a very famous novel as an Animation Movie is the 1st challenge we face.

Then, to make the movie for “Those who have read the story already and to those who have not yet ".

But, the Legendary Writer Kalki himself has made our job easier.

His narration of scenes, background descriptions, dialogues and characterizations are too good. We just have to modify slightly on it. No need to reinvent anything big. This fact must have been known to those who have read the story even once.

We are going to rope in artists from the Tamil Movie Industry for Music, dialogue and Voice dubbing. Plan to invite leading stars to give voice to characters. That is how Hollywood makes Animation movies if I am right.

Can you elaborate on " Valamaana Tamizhagam"  a bit?

It is a social organization focused to bring people to participate in Governance and making Tamilnadu as Prosperous Tamilnadu.

In this Endeavour, we have enlightened thousand’s of rural students of TN, through TV Live Program's on Personality Development, Communication Skills, Interview and Interpersonal Skills.

Also, we are into mentoring students to make them reach great heights in their career. We are working closely with a college in a rural part of TN.

Tell us, how does this movie will differ from any other animation movie made in India Finally,?

This movie will surely be of highest quality which you can be assured of. Some of the animation movies made in the recent past have failed miserably. But Hanumaan (2D) was very successful; the serials Chota Beam and Thenali Raman were very successful.

We are aiming to make this movie of International quality equivalent to Lion King of Disney if not better.
