'Kaththi' Beat 'Vishwaroopam' Collections in US?
"Kaththi" has been performing well in the
United States, which is one of the key markets for Tamil films. The film
released in more than 90 screens in the US and took fantastic openings
at the box office. The Vijay starrer became the first non-Rajinikanth
and non-Kamal Haasan film to cross the $500,000 mark at the US box
office.
It has taken the sixth spot in the list of highest grossing Tamil films
at the US box office. The first five spots are occupied by Rajini and
Kamal films including "Endhiran," "Vishwaroopam," "Sivaji",
"Dasavatharam" and "Kochadaiiyaan."
"Kaththi," which earned $570,207 in its opening weekend (21-26 October)
is expected to surpass "Kochadaiiyaan" collections (around $635,000) by
the end of the second weekend and take the fifth spot in the list of all
time grossers as well as the emerge as the highest grossing Tamil film
of 2014.With no big releases, the Vijay starrer is expected to continue
its good run in the US.
