Lets Remember, Reciprocate, Recognize, Respect & Reward the Soldiers Sacrifices.

Event Organized By  The Pulse Foundation & Tree Bank given 100trees for WW1 sacrifices Sachin bats for remembrance of WWI Indian soldiers After taking Indian cricket to greater heights, cricket maestro Sachin Tendulkar is batting for another cause: remembrance of the 1.3 million Indian soldiers who fought in the First World War. And anyone fighting for recognition of those bravehearts would agree that with Sachin pitching in, the demand has suddenly transformed from being a mere whisper to a war cry.

It all happened on Independence Day. that an NRI body, GOPIO France, was going to observe August 15 as 'Remembrance Day' in memory of the Indian soldiers of the Great War. They did it in Chennai at the Victory War Memorial jointly with Pulse Foundation.

There, at an elaborate function, senior representatives of the three services and the Coast Guard planted the first of the 74,187 trees that will be planted all over the country in honour of as many Indians killed during the war.
Elsewhere in Mumbai, Sachin made an in-camera appeal to all Indians to remember and honour those bravehearts who acquainted the world with the fighting prowess of the Indian soldier a century ago.
As other soldiers run for the cover of slit trenches, an Indian Lewis gun team engage an enemy aircraft in Mesopotamia, circa 1918.

Sachin says in the video: "We celebrate the lives and achievements of the people who have left an impact in our lives. Few of us know that during World War I, 1.3 million Indian soldiers pursued their duty spiritedly, with over 67,000 soldiers wounded and over 74,000 sacrificing their lives for the Allied forces. As we commemorate the centenary of WWI, please spare a minute in thanking and acknowledging the many generations of soldiers that have selflessly performed their duties so that we can sleep in peace and pursue our dreams."

Profound words from the little master. But he doesn't stop at that. "I would urge all Indians to plant a sapling each and remember the soldiers who sacrificed their lives for our great nation," Sachin adds. For the record, he is an honorary group captain of Indian Air Force.
