Sony launches Xperia Z2 at MRP Rs 49,990
Chennai,
13th May, 2014: Sony India launched its most anticipated Premium Smartphone,
the Xperia Z2 in Chennai, at MRP Rs. 49,990/-. The smartphone combines Sony’s
best design, display, sound, camera and camcorder experience, as well as an exclusive
entertainment offer. The latest Flagship Smartphone from Sony, which received
rave reviews at its global unveiling at the Mobile World Congress in Feb, 2014,
will be available from 13th May, 2014 onwards at all key retail
outlets across Chennai. The device offers unbeatable value, as it comes bundled
with the Sony SmartBand and a premium Sony case, in a limited period offer. Available
in White, Black and Purple colour, Xperia Z2 is powered by the latest Qualcomm
Snapdragon 801 Quad Core processor clocked at 2.3 GHz, supported by 3GB RAM and
a 3,200 mAh Battery in an 8.2mm slim smartphone. Not only this, Sony Xperia
customers can stream and download XSCAPE, an album by the internationally
acclaimed music icon and King of Pop - Michael Jackson for free through the
Sony Music Jive application.

Xperia Z2, the flagship phone from Sony for 2014. Our focus on smartphones segment was renewed
last year with the launch of Xperia range of smartphones in India which
received a tremendous response from our customers, helping us achieve a 10%
share in the smartphones business. We will continue to make an aggressive pitch
in this category in India, and are targeting Sales of Rs. 5,500 crore in FY14.
We plan to launch over 30 new smartphones this year and expand the distribution
network to reach 12,000 touch-points, including 500 exclusive Xperia Lounge Stores.
We have also allocated Rs. 350 crores as the marketing budget to execute a
high-impact integrated marketing campaign that will enhance engagement of brand
Xperia with customers in India.”

Sony Xperia Z2 has the best of Sony’s proven camera
technologies, including the Award-winning “G Lens”, 20.7 MP “Exmor RS for
mobile” CMOS image sensor and “BIONZ for mobile” image processing engine. The
smartphone can capture video in 4K resolution with SteadyShot™ for stable
videos.
Sony also announced the launch of its SmartBand SWR10 today,
an innovative Life log wrist band that lets you keep track of everything you do
– your movements, your communication, your entertainment. What makes SmartBand
smart is Life log, an innovative Android app that records your physical, social
and entertainment activities. You can see how active you were, where you went,
what pictures you took, where and when and how you have been communicating with
your world during any day.

SmartBand and a premium phone case, Accidental Damage Protection for 6 months
and 2GB free data download on Vodafone for 2 months will also be available with
the Xperia Z2.
