The Board of Management of Sathybama University has unanimously decided in its resolution to honour the following personalities by awarding Honorary Doctorate (Honoris Cuasa), in its 23^rd Convocation.  Announcing the decision by the Board of Management. Colonel Dr. Jeppiaar Chancellor, Sathyabama University said the 23^rd  Convocation will take place in Sathyabama University auditorium at 9.30am on 26^th April, 2014 at Sathyabama University Auditorum.

Professor H. Devaraj, Vice Chairman, University Grants Commission (UGC) will be the Chief Guest for the Convocation.  He will award the Degrees to the New Graduands and deliver the Convocation Address.

1. Dr. K. Sivan, Project Director, GSLV, Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), Thiruvananthapuram.

An aeronautical engineering graduate of Madras Institute of Technology, K.Sivan embarked upon a highly distinguished career in aerospace. His success is a fine illustration of the transformation of a postgraduate from Indian Institute of Science into a tallest figure of rocket science in our country. The pre-eminent reason for his nomination is the scale of his outstanding achievements right from the period of his research in Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay to the present status as the Project Director, GSLV Project & Chief Controller, Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, Thiruvananthapuram.

2. Mr. ARUR DAS, TAMIL POET

“The art of writing is the art of discovery what you believe”. This statement is an embodiment in the life of legendary veteran scriptwriter “Kalaimamani” Aroor Das. In 1931, on the day of 10th September, “Nagapattinam” does not aware that it has witnessed the birth of powerful script and dialogue writing that has contributed to the glory of Tamil Cinema. The son of                       Thiru S. Santhiagu and Tmt. Arokia Mary Ammal in the span of eight decades became the pride of Tamil Film Industry.

3. Thiru. Mambalam M.K.S. Siva, Nadaswara Vidhwan

A Man known for holding numerous prestigious titles in the arena of music is equally humble in bringing more value to them. He enthralls his audience and his audience simply adores him. Maduranada Visharada, Nadaswara Sigamani, Logamanya Nadaswara Simmam, Nadakkanal, Nadaswara Innisai Mannar and Kalaimamani from Dr.J.Jayalalitha in 1995 are few among the pride chain of titles with which music world honored him in the past. Throughout his long career, however, no matter the accolades heaped upon him, his focus never drifted from making most lovable music
