Chennai, November 13, 2013 : Everest
Edusys and Solutions Private Limited and American India Foundation joined hands
to reach the QED Science Exhibit Centric Learning Experience and the Digital
Equalizer Program’s Techno Pedagogy experience to Chennai Corporation schools.
The MoU between these organizations was shared by Mr.Krishna Srinivasan,
Founder Chairman of EESPL and Mr.Baskaran State Program Manager, Tamil Nadu,
American India Foundation, in the presence of the Commissioner, Corporation
of Chennai, Shri. VikramKapur, IAS.This
MoU will result in advancing both parties towards their common audacious goal
of providing both physical Science exhibits and the digital Computer aids
required by marginalized Schools for enhanced learning and teaching
experiences.
EESPL,is a For Profit Social Venture,
pioneering the paradigm shift of Science Education in India. Quest. Explore.
Discover. (Q.E.D) is the flagship brand which aims to bring FUN into the
FUNdamentals of Sciencethrough interactive exhibit centric science content to
enable teachers and students towards HOTS (Higher Order Thinking Skills). The
Education Department of Chennai Corporation, in an initiative to bring concept
centric learning through activity based teaching methodologies engaged with QED
for fully operational Science galleries with 40 + science exhibits
demonstrating term-based concepts mapped to curriculum. Currently, there are 3
Centers functioning in 3 zones, impacting 45+ schools with 2000+ students and
60+ teachers. The fourth gallery is scheduled to open this month and more centers
will follow shortly, to offer the 20,000 + middle school children an
opportunity to learn science using models of global standards. Critical
thinking activity is promoted and children are encouraged to participate in
science challenges and competitions.
The
American India Foundation, implementing its Digital Equalizer Program in 67
corporation schools of Chennai and Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu, of which 40 are
with Chennai Corporation, would implement this initiative of the QED and
thereby form the science clubs in all the 67 the schools in the first phase
to promote critical thinking through interactive experience and scientific
temperament using the Do It Yourself (DIY) exhibits.
Respected Commissioner
of Chennai Corporation, Shri. VikramKapur IAS, distributed the prizes to the
students who won in the Children’s competitions conducted by QED and the Digital Story Telling (DST) by
American India Foundation. Best DSTs on topics like Save Water, Personal
Hygiene were screened.

AIF’s Digital Equalizer (DE) program is a computer-aided
learning program that bridges the educational and digital divides in India by
preparing children in government schools to compete in the digital economy.
Targeting children in grades six and above, DE provides computer and internet
education to teachers and students and helps teachers to be more effective by
implementing project-based learning methodologies.
To date, DE has trained over 24,000 teachers and 750,000
children in 2,077 schools across India.
