Naan Rajavaga Pogiren is directed by
Prithvi Rajkumar, a former associate of Vetrimaaran, with Nakul, Chandini and
Avani Modi playin the lead roles. The film almost all the technicians of
Udhayam NH4 including Vetrimaaran for dialogues, GV Prakash for music, Kishore
Te for editing and Velraj for cinematography.
Story :
Jeeva (played by Nakul) is a youngster who
lives in Himachal Pradesh with his mother (Seetha) and father (Suresh). Being a
nature lover, Jeeva often wanders around the Himachal forests to watch wildlife
up and close. While one such adventure travel, he accidentally gets into a
military camp where he is accused of trespassing and is punished by the
military officers.
The first twist in the story arrives in the
form of a military trainee who addresses Jeeva as Raja. Jeeva clarifies to the
officer that he has mistaken him to be somebody else. Later, the officer shows
Jeeva a video shot during his college days which features Raja. The officer
spills a few details about Raja which gets Jeeva curious.
In search of his look alike, Jeeva plans to
leave Himachal Pradesh uninformed. In pursuit of it, he gets meet new people
and faces new challenges and ultimately the mystery gets solved in the climax.
Screenplay :
Prithvi Rajkumar's screenplay is the key
ingredient which makes the preparation tasty as a whole dish. He hasn't
overcooked or underplayed, rather has done a neat narration which keeps the
audience engaged.
Another major factor to be mentioned is
that the director has not wasted his time in pinning a separate comedy track
which has prevented the core juice from not getting diluted.
Technical Highlights :
Vetrimaaran's dialogues are short and on
the dot. Kishore's editing needs a special mention as he has worked a lot with
his scissors for presenting the film neatly. The film almost has three
flashbacks and each of it dates to the present. These are the portions were
Kishore's magic has made the trick.
Cinematographer Velraj has shown the beauty
of Himachal Pradesh through his lens in the best possible manner we must say.
His lens work in the action sequences keeps its toughness alive. Dhilip
Subbarayan's stunt choreography is hard hitting.
GV Prakash's numbers, though are pleasing
to hear, do not stay for long in our mind. However, the composer needs the
applause for his background music scores.
Performances :
Considering Nakul's performance we can say
that he is improving as a good actor, though it is not up to the mark. Director
A Venkatesh's role as a villain is not worth mentioning.
Avani Modi has played a good supporting
role as Nakul's friend who travels along and renders helps whenever it is
needed. Though Chandini plays Nakul's love interest, her performance is not so
impressive.
Verdict : Naan Rajavaga Pogiren a King
Rating : 3/5
