Chennayil Oru Naal, directed by Shaheed
Kader is the remake of Malayalam film 'Traffic'. Sarathkumar, Radhika,
Jayaprakash, Prakash Raj have played key roles in the film. Mejo Joseph has
scored the music, Shehnad Jalal has handled the cinematography and Mahesh
Narayanan has done the editing.
Story Plot :
Chennayil Oru Naal, is about a challenging
task of saving a young girl's life who requires the heart of the donor to be
transported through roadway from Chennai to Vellore. In the beginning, the
story narration is split in equal shares for introducing the characters
Sathyamoorthy (Cheran), Gautham Krishna (Prakash Raj) Robin (Prasanna) and
Raadhika, who get into to the core plot of the film later.
Sathyamoorthy, a traffic constable, who has
suffered suspension following a bribe case, volunteers to drive the car and
save the girl's life in order to earn back his lost pride. Sundara Pandian
(Sarathkumar) is the traffic police commissioner, who acts as the brain behind
the plan. The challenging mission and the hurdles faced during it, forms the
rest of the story.
Review :
The idea of having a heart transportation
as a key plot of the film is really fresh and has challenge written all over
it.
As the film's screenplay juggles a lot of
sequences at a given time, it has demanded a perfect editing work and we must
say that Mahesh Narayanan has delivered it without any flaws.
Time constraint acts as the the first
challenging factor for the mission, but the rest of the reasons which are
showcased as the cause of a delay in the mission are unconvincing.
Director Shaheed has failed to maintain the
tense mood in the screenplay and the scenes taken in the control room, where
Sarathkumar tries to get back his control on the lost vehicle could have been
shot much better.
Songs and background score of Mejo Joseph
remind us of other tracks which we have heard earlier. The BGM which is
repeatedly used in the sad scenes reminds us of ‘Ayayayoo Aananthamey’ song
from Kumki.
Verdict : Chennaiyil Oru Naal an important Day
Rating : 3.5 / 5
