Athiradi Vettai is the Tamil dubbed version of Mahesh Babu's Telugu flick 'Dookudu', directed by Srinu Vaitla. Thaman has scored the film's music and Samantha plays Mahesh Babu's love interest in the film.

Storyline: 

Shankar Narayana is a local leader who does charity for the needy and works for uplifting them. Shankar goes to coma following an accident in which a truck collides with his car. Meanwhile, his son Ajay (Mahesh Babu) grows up as a fierce straight forward cop who fights out mafia gang in Mumbai.

Ajay happens to meet Prashanthi (Samantha) in Turkey and falls in love with her. When he returns to India, he comes to know that a mafia leader Naik (Sonu Sood) has planned the car accident of his father and so he sets off to seek revenge.

Review: 

The film's narration by Srinu Vaitla keeps the movie goers engaged. Enough dosage of comedy makes the film a fun filled entertainer. Punch dialogues which have been written in Tamil are the one to watch out for.

Srinu Vaitla needs special applause for making good use of Mahesh Babu's screen presence. The actor is attractive to watch, be it a tough cop or a son. His majestic appearance, punch dialogues and comic scenes are a treat to watch.

KV Guhan's cinematography has helped for the film's style quotient. Music by S Thaman is impressive.

Brahmanandam with the partnership of MS Narayana, has done a great job adding more entertainment value to the film. Samantha looks good and bubbly, but hasn't got much to do with the main course of the film.

As usual, Prakash Raj is flawless. Sonu Sood perfectly fits the role of a Mumbai mafia gang leader and is majestic in appearance.
