Sri Darshini Kalaikoodam Annual Painting Exhibition Stills

Sri Darshini Kalaikoodam (The School of Arts) conducted "Samarpanam 2013", an ongoing Annual Art Exhibition at the Lalit Kala Academy, Chennai Chapter.

The inauguration of the event was presided over by plethora of honorary dignitaries.

The event started with the lighting of Kuthuvilakku and Tamizh Thai Vazhthu.

Mr. S. S. Jawahar I.A.S., Commissioner of Art and Culture, Government Museum, Chennai, spoke on the importance of respecting the child's dreams and at the same time highlighted the importance of parents to guide the children in the right direction.

Mr. Maruti, Senior Artist, heaped praise on Mr. Dharma, the director of the school of arts for imparting the right guidance and training to all his students for producing such fascinating pieces of art. He mentioned this progress was not a simple achievement, but a herculean task.

Mr. Jaishankar, Director of the movie "Mannaar", spoke of an incident in his early childhood where inspite of being a shy and timid child, there was an occasion where he had to perform on the stage. Surprisingly, he was awarded the first prize, although he was the only one to compete :-). He mentioned that he had transformed himself from being backstage early on to be at the forefront in film direction now.

Mr Sounder Rajan, an important actor in the movie "Sundarapandiyan", spoke of leaving the children alone to follow their dreams and desires. He mentioned that parents and surroundings should not impose pressure on the students to perform as per their wishes.

Dr Surrya Vijayaraghavan, founder of Dr. Siyaram academy, spoke very few words, where she narrated a short story where Rama descended from a picture to speak to his disciple. The takeaway from her narration was that a picture will speak a story for everyone.

The program progressed to the next stage in presenting the Life Time Achievement awards to the honorary guests Mr Maruti and Dr. Surrya Vijayaraghavan.

Mr. Vakhai Dharma, director, Sri Darshini Kalaikoodam (The School of Arts), announced the release of the monthly newsletter "Heart to Art, Art to Heart", which is a first in Tamil Nadu from an art school.

The culmination of the event was the presentation of mementos and certificates to all the art students of Sri Darshini Kalaikoodam (The school of arts).

The grand event was concluded with the National Anthem and finally a group picture with the dignitaries.
