Haridas Movie Review and Rating
Director GNR Kumaravelan's third film
Haridas after 'Ninaithalae Inikkum' and 'Yuvan Yuvathi' has Kishore, Sneha and
child artist Prithviraj Das in important roles. Pradeep Rawat plays the
villain, while Soori, and Yugi Sethu chip in through key supporting roles.
Storyline :
The film's story revolves around the
relationship between a father (Shivadas) and son (Hari Das). Shivadas (played by Kishore) is a police
officer, who has lost his wife and left his son Haridas (played by Prithviraj
Das) under the care of his mother. Soon, after his mother's demise Shiva Das
decides to look after his son on his own as the child is mentally challenged.
On the other hand, Shiva Das leads a team
of police officers who are planning to hunt down a gangster Aadhi (Pradeep
Rawat). Meanwhile, for finding a school for his son, Shiva Das takes some time
off from the police department after which his colleague Ramesh takes charge of
the team.
In the school, Shiva Das meets Aanantha
Valli (Sneha) who takes care of his son. Aanantha Valli, finds Shiva Das as a
disturbance in the beginning, but gets interested in him after seeing the care
and affection he shares with his son. By the time when his son starts improving
in his performance, Shivadas faces trouble from Aadhi's gang. What happens next
forms the brisk second half.
Performers :
Kishore is the best among the lot. Audience
have loved Kishore in roles like the one he played in Polladhavan and Vennila
Kabadi Kuzhu, but in Haridas we get to see him in a role which demands
commanding performance as a cop and subtle emotions as a father. And we must
say the actor has excelled in both.
Soori is characterized as a jeep driver for
Shivadas, who mistakenly identifies Sneha as his childhood love. Sequences where
he attempts to propose and woo her, provides the much needed humor for the
film. Senha and Yugi Sethu have played their role to perfection.
Director :
Though we have seen films based on father
son relationship GNR Kumaravelan has done a brilliant script work with the mix
of action at one end and emotion at the other. This keeps the audience engaged
throughout the film.
Music :
The song Police Gaana and 'Annayin Karuvi'
in Vijay Antony's music is entertaining. Apart this track, the composer has
scored well for the film's background which sets the mood for emotional scenes
and action sequences.
Cinematography :
Rathnavelu's cinematography has captured
the emotions well. His camera work needs a special mention in the action
sequences and in the song 'Annayin Karuvi'.
Verdict : Haridas is yet another budget
movie which has surprised us with its content.
Rating : 5/5
