Chennai, January 28, 2013: Anusha Venkatraman from Chennai was adjudged Manappuram Miss South India 2013 at Lulu Convention Centre, Thrissur recently.

Mannapuram Miss South India 2013 was started on 2002 and this was the successful tenth edition of Miss South India Contest. The final of the beauty pageant was held at the cultural capital of Kerala.

Anusha Venkatraman was awarded with a cash prize of  1,00,000. The title winner Anusha Venkatraman and the first two runners up are now qualified directly to Manappuram Miss Queen of India, a national level beauty contest.

Anusha Venkatraman - South Indian Model, News Anchor, Dancer and a theater professional aged 22 is a B.A History graduate. She has performed in numerous shows nationally and globally.

Miss South India is not just another beauty contest. Mannapuram Miss South India 2013 attracts talents from all over South India; it reflects the culture and tradition of India. The pageant showcases South India in its entire splendor.

The final event of the pageant consisted of three and a half hour program with three sequences and cultural extravaganzas which was directed by Ajith Ravi Pegasus. Sixteen contestants including Anusha, from 4 states walked the ramp for the grand finale. The Event was judged by Miss World 1^st runner up Ms. Parvathy Omanakuttan, South Indian Actor Mr. Babu Antony and Actress Ranjini (Chithram fame), Actress Ms. Nikitha Narayan, Actress Ms. Aishwarya Devan, NRI fashion designer Mr. Sajimon Parayil and Media Personality Mrs. Toshma Biju.

After the Q&A round, 6 contestants made it to the final round. While all of them walked the ramp in a black dress and were asked a common question. The question was should the accused of the Delhi gang rape case be given a death sentence. Anusha Venkatraman disagreed “Death would be an escape from pain the accused left with woman they tormented. The accused should undergo a tuff phase continually to ensure safety for the women in our nation”. While the other contestants answered in favor of the death sentence.  

Anusha Venkatraman being crowned Miss South India 2013, will be a morale booster for her to achieve on the days ahead.
