'Kozhi Koovuthu', directed by debutant K.I
Ranjith has Ashok and Sija Rose in the lead roles alongside the support cast
which has known faces like Aadukalam fame Nareyn, Mayil Samy, Rohini, Bose
Venkat and Jyothilakshmi.
Kumaresan (Ashok) is a guy who earns his
living along with Singam (Mayil Samy) through the business of selling unhealthy
chicks in the market. Thulasi (Sija Rose) lives along with her grandmother
Ponni (Jyothilakshmi) separated from her father Durai Singam (Nareyn).
Once Kumaresan and Singam leaves to the
town where Thulasi resides and happens to meet her. As the story develops, love
blossoms between them and here comes a twist in the tale. Iyyanar (Bose
Venkat), who is Thulasi's paternal uncle, gets to know about her love affair
and stands against it. Whether Kumaresan and Thulasi join hands after
overcoming all the clutches forms the film's climax.
Review :
Ashok as Kumaresan and Sija Rose as Thulasi
have fit into their roles perfectly. Their acting doesn't seem overcooked at
any stage rather it is subtle, but Mayil Samy steals the show in the acting
department.
The characterization of Aadukalam Nareyn,
Rohini, Paruthi Veeran Sujatha, Mayil Samy, and Jyothilakshmi adds strength to
the film. The director's twist at the end of the tale misleads us, but what we
see onscreen is a different result.
“Vaadaa Malli Kaari” and “Saara Paambu
Pola” are the best among the tracks composed by E.S Ramraj. The background
score impresses at certain places, but doesn't remain in our hearts as the
scenes pass by.
Coming to the negative points, the story
begins well, but becomes predictable at most of the places except the climax. A
rich flavor of music and humor could have helped the film's course a lot.
Rating : 3 / 5
Verdict : Sun Raising
