Ammavin Kaipesi is yet another drama from Thangar Bachchan which has Iniya and Shanthanu Bhagyaraj playing the lead pair. Revathi plays the role of the mother which is the pivot of the film.

When said that Ammavin Kaipesi is an adaptation of his novel under the same name, one would have expected something heart-touching like 'Onbadhu Roobai Nottu', but Ammavin Kaipesi is just too far from that.

The film's story is threaded around a mother who lives away from her nine children and stays connected only through the mobile phone. Annamalai (Shanthanu) is a happy youngster who lives with his eight siblings and loves her cousin Selvi (Iniya). Annamalai changes his lifestyle to earn a good name from Selvi's father. When things seems to be falling in place, Annamalai gets accused of theft. The rift created in the family due to this incident twists the tale and the second half has the rest for you.

Thankar Bachchan has been outstanding in maintaining the realistic feel of the story's backdrop which includes the village setting, characters, showcasing the customs of rural areas etc. The director has also made his camera speak more emotions.

On his acting part Thangar Bachchan has done a decent job and the mother character's performance  stands out among all. The insistence on the point of how technology separates family is good message needed for the current generation.

Ammavin Kaipesi has showcased Shanthanu's adaptability towards realistic roles. Iniya has done her part to perfection and looks pretty in the film.

Rohit Kulkarni has done a decent job with his background score which has helped the film to maintain the village nativity and to add more reality to emotional scenes.

Verdict  : On the whole Ammavin Kaipesi will be yet another art work for his fans and a bit boring for others.
