Pizza Movie Review and Rating

 

Pizza, the romantic thriller has been directed by Karthik Subburaj with Vijay Sethupathi and Remya Nambeesan. Attakathi fame Santosh Narayanan has scored the film's music.

Storyline :

Michael (played by Vijay Sethupathi) and Anu (Remya Nambeesan) are lovers, who live together in a bungalow in east coast road, Chennai. Anu is a student who is pursuing her MA Psychology and Vijay Sethupathi works as a delivery boy in Pitstop pizza restaurant.

When it comes to the liking of horror films, Anu and Michael are the opposite extremes. Anu wishes to write a horror novel, while Michael discourages her as he doesn’t like her watching such movies and reading such books in the name of research.

Once Michael happens to go for a delivery in Anna Nagar where surprise strikes him. He gets trapped in a bungalow while delivering pizza and happens to see a a couple of murders which gets his mad. Michael tries to get himself out of the house, but the situation gets worse.

From here the story travels to a thrilling end and the director reveals the answers for it in the second half.

Highlights :

Vijay Sethupathi walks off with the performer award as he has done his role to perfection. His performance while being caught in the bungalow needs a special mention. Overall, the actor has carried the burden on his shoulders quite easily with his acting talent.

Santosh Narayanan, after his widely recognized 'Attakathi has given a good album to hear. His guitar scores, both acoustic and electric are apt for the situations being used. The composer needs applause for a well composed background score which is a key for films of thriller genre.

Director Karthik Subburaj has played well with his simple yet engaging storyline and a few handpicked characters. When the audience get come out with lot of suggesstions for the reason behind the crime, the director comes out with a surprise package.
